Prof Raymond Nkado

Professor Raymond Nkado graduated first class honours in quantity surveying and best graduate in the Faculty of Engineering at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Nigeria in 1985. He initially trained with Shehu Giwa & Partners, chartered quantity surveyors, Kano. While lecturing and completing his masters in construction management degree at ABU 1986 – 1988, he participated as quantity surveyor in several construction projects. During his PhD study at the University of Reading, UK (1988 – 1991), Raymond worked with Leslie Dight and Partners, chartered quantity surveyors. Raymond joined Wits University, Johannesburg, as senior lecturer in 1994, lectured quantity surveying and construction management classes and provided training to emerging contractors under the BIFSA programme. Raymond completed the Wits Business School MBA degree cum laude and gold medallist in 1999 while honing his professional quantity surveying skills on several projects in Gauteng. In 2014, Raymond qualified as an accredited project management professional (PMP) with the Project Management Institute of the USA. In 1999, Raymond was appointed the first black professor of quantity surveying in South Africa and head of the department of quantity surveying at the University of Port Elizabeth. He returned to Wits University as the first executive dean of the restructured Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment (2001 – 2006). Raymond is a registered and chartered quantity surveyor (PrQS, MRICS), chartered builder (MCIOB), registered construction project manager (Pr.CPM) and a project management professional (PMP). He served as chairman of the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) (2008 – 2010), president of the South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession (SACQSP) (2005 – 2009) and president of the South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP) (2009 – 2014), member of the panel of experts of the Council for the Built Environment (CBE) from 2009, honorary visiting professor at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, founding director of QualConsul QS cc, and director at Diagonal Projects Africa (Pty) Ltd (project managers). Raymond has led project teams on a number of completed and ongoing projects.

Tshegofatso pursued her creativity and transformation passion which started within the world of publishing, then spearheading a university-wide competency project that ensured that the University of South Africa (UNISA) is future-fit in terms of skills and technology. She is fully committed to growth; including operations, planning and strategy, stakeholder communications and engagement, and human resource planning and allocation.

Tunde Ojo-Aromokudu

President PMI South Africa, PMP

Tunde Ojo-Aromokudu is an architect and a project manager in the construction industry. He read Architecture and Construction Management in University of Lagos; Organizational & Management Systems and Business Management in University of Natal (now UKZN), and Project Management in the University of Pretoria. His experience in the Built environment spans over 3 decades with involvement in notable projects such as the Defunct Durban International Airport; Ushaka Marine World; Suncoast Casinos & Hotels and CAPRISA at the Nelson Mandela School of Medicine and the Phase 1 of RBIDZ Head Office Upgrade all in KZN. From 2013 to 2016 he taught Project Management at the University of Zululand. He is a registered Construction Project Manager with the South African Council for Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP), a registered architect with South African Institute of Architect and a Chartered member of The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). He is also a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with the PMI as well as a Green Star SA Professional with the Green Building Council of South Africa (GBCSA) He is now the acting President of this Chapter of the PMI and before that, the Vice-President REP (Registered Education Provider) Outreach of the Chapter. Tunde is the MD of Prosite Plan Africa, an architecture and project management consulting practice based in Rivonia and Ulundi. He has keen interests in Quality Project Management & Systems Thinking.
